Avery started 9th grade, celebrated her 15th birthday and went to her first homecoming. She loves high school and is doing really well there. She's taking several pre AP courses and made JV volleyball. She is so athletic! It's also crazy to hear her talk about her GPA...she'll be headed to college before we know it. We couldn't be more proud of her right now.
Robbie's orthopedic surgeon saw him when we returned from vacation and said he was seeing positive improvements. He decided not to proceed with hip surgery this fall/winter. Robbie will need surgery on his hip sooner than later but he would rather see him continue to outgrow his respiratory issues before undergoing major surgery again. Robbie has learned to run now and is still hitting his milestones which is so very exciting to us! We cut back on PT to once a month but added feeding therapy to every other week. Robbie still struggles with choking and turning blue from time to time but overall he is making great progress and eating finger foods at dinner now. We also found out last week that he was approved for Synagis shots again this year. We are so thankful for this too! If you remember from last year, Synagis shots are monthly injections of antibodies to help prevent RSV infections. Robbie caught RSV twice last year but was only hospitalized once for it. As a matter of fact, I found out at his 18 month check up that he was 1 of 2 in our pediatrician's entire practice who caught RSV twice this past season. Surprising considering we didn't take him ANYWAY last fall/winter and he's not in daycare. Regardless, we're praying for a better turnout this year!
