Just a Few More Days

We've created a lot of memories in Room 459. We've had visitors and sleepover adventures, late night Broviac scares and early morning xrays. After 20 days and 20 nights in this room, I can now say that it hasn't been that bad but there is no way we could have done it without the help of our amazing family and friends. Even my sister Coleen and brother-in-law Mike took vacation time to come to Texas and help take care of Robbie. We are beyond grateful for what everyone has done to help us out.

Robbie is now 9 lbs and 5 oz and doing great. He started kicking his left leg this past week and I was so giddy to show his Orthopedic Surgeon. He's very pleased with Robbie's progress.

So here's the game plan for the next few days: last dose of antibiotics on Tuesday, remove the Broviac and monitor Robbie's health and labs to ensure the infection is completely gone. We are praying for that so we can finally go home, this time knowing that Robbie is truly healthy. We still don't have a discharge date but, if all goes well, we are thinking it will be within the week.

Happy 2 month birthday, baby. You've come a long way!

This chain nearly touched the ground when we first moved in.

Only a few more days of antibiotics to go!

"Please just wake me when this is all over and I can go home."

  1. It's almost here! The day you probably thought would never come. I'm so impressed by your patience, faith, positive attitude, and strength during this tough phase of your life journey. You are all stronger for it and that's something to be thankful for. God will use the growth you've had through this experience for great things. And, you'll become a huge support for someone else going through a tough time later down the road. I'm so happy for you guys and hope that the week of April 30, 2012 turns out to be a VERY special week for you, Joel, Avery, and Robbie! Way to go, Robbie… you’ve got a big life ahead of you, this is only the beginning!
